Frequently Asked Questions

How can I find out more about Unitarian Universalism?

You can find more information about Unitarian Universalistm here. We invite you to visit our congregation and attend a Sunday service or any event listed on the calendar to meet members of our church family!

What if I am attracted to UUism but not a churchgoer?

You need not attend our church to get involved in UUism. You can experience past sermons via our YouTube channel, you can join us on Facebook and participate in discussions there, and you can check out the Church of the Larger Fellowship which offers opportunities for UU fellowship in an online spiritual community.

Is there a dress code for attending church?

As with our individual search for truth, there is an individual decision for what feels right when attending services, from the most casual attire to “Sunday best.” Come as you are.

How are children involved in church services?

Our children worship with the full congregation for some of the service, and then are invited to Religious Education classes or to play outside. Children are always welcome in worship, but we do offer nursery care for the ease and comfort of parents.

Why do you have a congregation if you all have your own beliefs?

Our congregation is based upon our commitment to our principles, covenant, and mission statement. Although we search individually for our own spiritual truths, we embrace the need for community and fellowship to hold us in our sorrows, celebrate with us in our joys, and help us live our values better than we could alone.

Do you have any symbols like a cross or menorah?

Today, the flaming chalice is the official symbol of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee and the Unitarian Universalist Association. Officially or unofficially, it functions as a logo for hundreds of congregations and has become a focal point for worship. No one meaning or interpretation is official. The flaming chalice, like our faith, stands open to receive new truths that pass the tests of reason, justice, and compassion.
