Classes for Adults

Currently offering: post-worship reflection at 11:15am in the sanctuary.

Other classes for adults vary, but recent ones have covered topics such as grief, Bible Study for Skeptics, anti-racism work, and prayer.

Deep River Sangha

This group, led by a church member, meets for Zen Buddhist practice on Sunday afternoons. They follow church building protocols but make their own reopening decisions. Please contact info@deepriversangha.org with any questions.

Shared Ministry Agreements

Our lay leadership is involved with creating and maintaining organized service, outreach, and community engagement. We offer a multitude of different support and interest groups. Everything from serving as an usher to parent groups and game nights. Since these groups and events are dynamic please click the link to see a list of current lay led ministries and leaders.

We are open to new ideas from current members! If you’ve got a proposal for a project, an event, or an ongoing group, download our Shared Ministry Agreement form, or reach out with questions about how to get started!

  • It is a member-led project, event, or group. Proposals are approved by members of the staff and board on the Shared Ministry Council once a month. Ongoing groups will need to renew the agreement once a year.

  • Any active member. Interested in joining? Contact our office for more information.

  • We strongly suggest you discuss your idea with a member of the staff or board so that they can help you think through your idea to get it approved more quickly. If it is a fundraiser it should be approved by the Stewardship Committee first.

  • You should check our list of current SMA’s at the bottom of the page. You can always ask any staff or board member as well.

  • There are lots of ways to find folks interested!

-Go to the church directory on the website and review it for members and their contact info - if you are a member and do not have the password, Contact Julie Hamilton.

-Post to UUCG Cares Facebook Group (if you don’t have a Facebook account, find someone interested in your event to do this for you).

-Send to the groups Forum (if you’re not on the forum, find someone interested in your event to do this for you).

-Send to other church google groups as appropriate (Choir, Seniors Connecting)

-The most effective member-led communication is the good old-fashioned personal invitation! Don’t forget this one. You can stand in the church lobby with a clipboard!

After you have explored these avenues, you may request that your possible project be listed in the newsletter, posted in the lobby, announced on Sunday, or put in the Sunday bulletin. Please contact Julie or Sadie for these options.

  • Not yet! Please talk about your idea to other members, staff and the board to see if there is a strong interest: maybe you can find others willing to lead it- we could also put it on our possible SMA list. Please ask Julie or a Board member to help you add it.

  • You can be co-leader on 2 SMA’s at any given time. We renew ongoing SMA’s every year. If it is a short one time event (like a concert) then you can lead another SMA after the event is concluded.
