My wife Carol and I have been members of UUCG for about 5 years. We first became UU’s about 13 years ago after having moved from MA to Louisville, KY to be close to our first born grandchild. I grew up in fundamentalist Baptist churches, then married Carol in her UCC Congregational church in Milford, CT. Carol and I were members of First Congregational Church, UCC, in Sharon MA for about 30 years before moving to KY. I love being a member of UUCG. I often share with folks that becoming a UU was a kind of ‘born again’ experience for me. The burden of required beliefs was lifted and the fresh air of freedom to search for truth and spiritual enrichment without adherence to theological dogma is certainly ‘good news’ and it is my desire to be an evangelical UU, preaching this gospel of freedom. I have been active in our wonderful choir since joining the church and have been volunteering as a teacher of young children in our RE program for 3 years, most recently team teaching the first to third grade class. Now it is my privilege to serve on the ministerial search committee, working to help our congregational attract and call our next settled minister.
