Welcome to Unitarian Universalism

With its historical roots in the Jewish and Christian traditions, Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religion that maintains an open mind to the religious questions people have asked in all times and places. We believe that personal experience, conscience and reason should be the final authorities in religion, and that in the end religious authority lies not in a book or person or institution, but in ourselves as bound together in covenantal community. We are a “non-creedal” religion, asking no one to subscribe to a creed, yet together seeking to live this life with love and purpose.

Our congregations are self-governing. Authority and responsibility are vested in the membership of the congregation. Each Unitarian Universalist congregation is involved in many kinds of programs and forms of service. Worship (which we understand as lifting up that which has worth) is held regularly, faith formation is engaged in so that the insights of the past and the present may be shared with those who will create the future, service to the wider community is undertaken, and fellowship and fun happens so that friendships are created by those who care for each other.. A visitor to a UU congregation will very likely find events and activities such as musical performances, potlucks, Sunday School for youth and adults, lectures and forums, support groups, family events, week night adult education classes and just for fun events.
